Producciones LA IGUANA s.l. is managed by Santiago García de Leániz and Iciar Bollain and it was incorporated in 1990 as a limited partnership film company,  being an associated member of FAPAE (Spanish Association of Production Companies). The company is also member of  E.G.E.D.A. (Spanish Producers Collecting Guild).

During 2007 La Iguana in co production with Sogecine  released "MATAHARIS", Iciar Bollain´s fourth feature film.  "MATAHARIS"  was critically acclaimed in its world premiere at  San Sebastian International Film Festival's Official Competition.  Spanish theatrical release followed a wide audience response as well as  6 Nominations for the 2007 Goya Spanish Academy Awards including Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Original Song.  The film was  awarded  Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress (María Vázquez) by the Spanish Cinema Writers Circle Awards and also  Best Original Screenplay Guadalajara International Film Festival,  Mexico. Theatrical release followed  in France in April 2008  along an international film festival presence such as Punta del Este (Uruguay),  Istanbul (Turkey), La Mirada (Australia) or Miami (USA).

Directorial debuts  acclaimed by the critics released during 2005  were “LA NOCHE DEL HERMANO" (THE NIGHT OF THE BROTHER) directed by Santiago García de Leániz,  and the documentary feature "EL TREN DE LA MEMORIA" (MEMORY TRAIN) by Marta Arribas and Ana Pérez, one of Spain´s most acclaimed documentaries of the year and granted with several international awards .

During 2003, the company  produced  in co production with Alta Producción  the third feature film by Iciar Bollain “TE DOY MIS OJOS” (TAKE MY EYES),  winner of 7 Spanish Academy Awards including Best Film. It also won Best Actress & Best Actor Award, Best Film Award Spansih Writers Guild, at San Sebastian International Film Festvial 2003.  The film was released theatrically in Spain in mid October 2003 with more than 1.000.000 admissions. The film became the top rated Spanish film by the critics in 2003 and among the top Spanish films at the box office.  It has also been sold to major foreign territories.

In 1999 La Iguana produced along with Alta Films the second feature film by Iciar Bollain “FLORES DE OTRO MUNDO” (Flowers from another world).             The film was awarded Best Film, in the International Critics´ Week, Cannes Film Festival 1999. Theatrically released in Spain and France it  became an acclaimed audience’s  and critic’s choice with foreign sales including Canada, Mexico, Japan, Australia, Germany, and France among others.

 During 1994-95, La Iguana produced with Fernando Colomo p.c. the feature film “HOLA, ¿ESTÁS SOLA?" written and directed by Iciar Bollain. The film received several international prizes and honours and was one of 1996 Spain’s box office hits.

Between 1992 and 1994 La Iguana produced the documentary series TV Hike “European Routes”, 20x25’ documentaries in Super 16mm in association with other five European production companies.
